About
The Artist
Born in the quiet forests of Finland, Matti Sirvio spent his early years chasing the elusive light of the Nordic winter. His early works, characterized by stark whites and melancholic blues, captured the profound silence of a landscape buried in snow.
A fateful journey to the Arabian Peninsula irrevocably altered his palette. In the sweeping dunes and blinding heat of Oman, Sirvio found a different kind of silence—not the absence of sound, but the overwhelming hum of vast, empty space.
An artist-run space
Matti Sirvio Art Galleria is an artist-run gallery in Muscat, Oman, specialising in contemporary abstract and semi-abstract art from Oman and the wider MENA region.
Alongside a programme of solo exhibitions, the gallery maintains a permanent collection of Central Asian art.
Three group shows a year
Each year the gallery stages three large group exhibitions, open to artists working across the region.

- September 2017
The gallery is founded
Finnish artist Matti Sirvio opens Matti Sirvio Art Galleria in Muscat as an artist-run space.
- August 2018
A permanent home in Qurum
The gallery moves to its present location at Jawharat Al Shati, 1st floor, Qurum, Muscat.
- June 2019
A second season in Lapland
An annual summer gallery opens in Karigasniemi, Lapland, Finland, showing artists from Central Asia and the Middle East.

Since June 2019 the gallery has kept an annual summer gallery in Karigasniemi, Lapland, Finland, showing work by artists from Central Asia and the Middle East through the northern summer.
